What's a girl to do?

Christie: Well, this was *not* my expected blog post for the day.
I had a whole lovely little "spring" thing planned...
and then THIS happened:

What's a girl to do?
Two Acheron at once?
There's a reason the word "Ache" is in his name.
*fans herself*

Let's meet each of them:

Deranged Harry Potter Acheron:

Do you like my nickname for him?
Honestly, at the moment he's incognito...
I have no idea what the future holds for this boy
beyond a haircut.

Serious Business Acheron:

This boy popped out of his box,
demanded a shave and then proceeded to steal
Emmett's shirt and shoes.

So tell me, how do I keep these boys hidden from my sister? :)

Heather's Review of Acheron

Let's talk a little about the doll...

What I like:
1. He's beautiful once you remove his doofy facial hair.
2. His body is pretty awesome, as far as mobility is concerned.
3. His hands easily detach, making dressing him easy. (Christie: AND undressing him!)
4. His shirt, pants and coat are well made... and his pants and coat are just downright awesome.
5. His hands and feet are well sculpted.
6. He fits into Ken shoes

What I don't like:
1. His boots, they're hard plastic and trying to put them on makes me think I'm either going to break his feet, or his feet will pop off and get stuck inside the boot.
2. His facial hair... I mean... look at the closeup of Deranged Harry Potter Acheron... it looks like he's been eating oreos or drawing on his face with Sharpie. What's with those spots??
3. Neck mobility... this is the one place the Ken doll outstrips him. He's got very little range of motion where his neck and head meet.

He's pretty darn awesome.

I bought him with the intent of putting the Mattel Twilight Emmett's head on his body (because frankly, his promo pics do not appeal to me)... but now I'm not sure I can, LOL.

What he has done, and I curse him for it, is open the floodgate of me checking out FR boy releases.
Next year I might just have to join the FR club after all ;_;

Seeing Spots

Christie: Spot the dog, spots on the dress... I'm seeing spots everywhere!
And where did all these dogs come from anyways?

Want my look?
Get the Dress: HERE
Get the Shoes: HERE
Get the Dogs: HERE, HERE & HERE

Mind you, these aren't always the best prices for these items
(I'm surely not paying $80 for a dress! If you stay vigilant though,
it'll pop up for lower prices) ... mostly, this is just to help you know
what the item is called, what set it's from, what era... all that good stuff!

Just in case the auctions are over when you click on the links, here are the names of each item:
Dress: Fashion Fever Teresa-Polka Dot Dress-2004-H0873
Shoes: These shoes are from the Pink Label "Barbie As Elvis" Doll
Dog on left: Barbie Glam 'N Groom Set W/ Lacey Dog Style 'N Groom their matching hair 1999
Other two dogs: 1981 Beauty and Pup (the set actually had 2 pups originally) although you can get 1979 Beauty on her own on ebay fairly cheap :)

Uh oh...

Hey everyone, Heather (the human) here!

Just wanted to share some pics of my first custom reroot
who will be a Christie alter-ego:

Now that Christie knows I can create
custom looks for her...
she's never going to leave me alone...

Christie: That's right, I want more hair and makeup styles!!! Yay!

Going to a Meetup

Christie: Have any of you ever been to a doll meetup?
I never had, but last weekend I got to go to one.

It was mostly for something called "BJDs"
So I got to meet a few new dolls!

These guys were pretty cool customers, but they were nice enough to let me hang out with them.

Next there was this little one... we... uh... didn't really hit it off:

There was also this funky little troll:

I think he liked me!

There was a girl riding an elephant (although when I asked for a ride she said no... so I am just going to focus on the elephant -_- )

And finally, I wasn't able to talk to them, because they were in a glass case,
but there were some old relatives hanging about :)

Help a girl out, or is it two girls?

Good Morning everyone!

I've recently acquired two more Steffies...
but I'm having a dilemma...

Do I create one new character,
(Christie's cousin)
and have one version be her "everyday" version,
and the other be her "glam" version...
do I make them twins?

Help a girl (or two) out and let me know what you think!

Christie's Hong Kong Cousin

Christie: Hi everyone! Sorry I've been a little quiet lately!
I've been entertaining a visitor!

Please meet Chanel!
She is a Kurhn Doll!!

Chanel: Hi.
Christie: You have kind of a strange name.
Chanel: It's a Hong Kong thing.
Christie: Oh...
Well, anyways... as you can see, Chanel is a bit shorter than me.

Chanel: What do you mean by that?
Christie: Uh... that... you're shorter... *confused*
Chanel: Are you trying to make a joke?
Christie: No... *more confused*
Chanel: *stares hard at Christie and decides she's telling the truth* Ok.
Christie: T_T

Christie: Oh my, is this a bathing suit? It's pretty skimpy 0_0
Chanel: Eh heh heh, yes, a bathing suit...

Heather: It's me, the human, and I'm going to do a quick
analysis of the doll, a review for anyone considering buying one.

Things I like:
1. She's got a lovely, lanky, elegant body
2. Her skin tone is a really pretty, pale color.
3. Her hair is really soft and luxurious.
4. Her clothes are cute.
5. Overall, she's super cute.
6. While this is not the body with elbow and knee joints, she's still quite poseable.
7. She was shipped super fast and it only cost $4 (I opted for them to remove the doll from the box)
8. Free gift!! flyingannalee sent along a free outfit, which was super sweet :)

Things I don't like:
1. Her makeup is wonky... look at the picture above. The bottom eyeliner/lashes on the left eye (to your right when looking at her) is way too low... and her eyeballs are wonky. I'll be repainting her for sure. It's not a problem for me, but for someone who doesn't paint, it would suck.
2. I thought I was getting the jointed body, the pics in the auction were misleading.
Wouldn't you think she was jointed at the elbows and knees?
No, when buying, you must ignore all promo pics and only look carefully at the
actual pic of the doll. You can see, in just that one pic, that she is in fact, not jointed at the elbows and knees. Bleh.

Final Analysis:
I would totally buy another one of these girls... their overall aesthetic is just too cute, and the pros outweigh the cons for me.!

I bought mine on ebay from flyingannalee, who is supposedly the
certified dealer of Kurhn dolls.
Check out her wares here:

Nikki rants about Barbie Clothing

(please pardon the cruddy phone photos, but I'm just too angry to dedicate time to taking good ones of a product that doesn't deserve it.)

Nikki: What is up with the cheap-ass clothing from Mattel lately?

First off... cut it out with the pink/purple sparkles.
You should have your sparkle license REVOKED.
Don't get me wrong, it's cool every once in a while,
it appeases kawaii addicts like my sister...
but stylish girls like me?
At least not for 90% of our wardrobe. -_-
But really, this is more of a personal preference...
I'm sure Christie would be thrilled to keep on with
pink and purple sparkles.

Second, there's something seriously wrong when a Fashionista outfit can make
Rapunzel and Wonder Woman look like hookers.
Just sayin.

Diana (aka, Wonder Woman): Hey Big Boy... lookin' for a good time?

Finally, and my biggest rant of all...
I mean, seriously, how CHEAP can you get?!
I know Emmett was pretty pissed off about his
half a vest (dude... he wasn't a cheap date... so why
are you skimping on his clothes, Mattel?!)
Man-oh-man, though...
today was the final straw,
and it's name?
"I can be... Paleontologist" Barbie.

Christie is such a dinosaur nut,
it's kinda cute, really.
So when we got Ms. Paleontologist Barbie,
Christie was psyched about the new outfit...
A t-shirt with dinos on it?
Even I think that's cool...
but our delight was short lived.

Because Mattel did it again.
Just like Emmett's vest, except even crappier.

Frankly, if they're going to pull this crap,
they need to have listed,
on the outside of the box,
the contents OF the box.

To top it all off, the arm holes aren't even hemmed,
and are already pulling apart.

What a cheap piece o' crap.

It's funny too,
I'll point you to #5 on the back of the box:

Somehow, I don't think a vest that cannot be removed from your half-shirt is
dressing for the occasion.

New and Thank You!

 Christie: Good Morning!

Christie: First let me just say,
Welcome to all of our new followers
for your feedback on the necklace question.

I assure you it wasn't a case of being lazy,
we have done a lot of research on pricing :)
I was mostly just curious what *YOU*
would pay for something like that XD

Nikki: Whatever, they all just thought you were lazy... and rightly so.
I mean, come on, you don't even have a real job.
Christie: I have a real job! I just haven't revealed it yet.
Nikki: HAH! Right, because it's such a big surprise?
Christie: Maaaaybe :(
Nikki: Like I said, lazy and unemployed.
Christie: You're so mean sometimes ;_;
ANYHOW... Mean Girl Nikki aside,
there are a few new faces.

1. Katniss Everdeen: You may have seen her around if you follow my Instagram...
where you'll see exploits such as this:

Katniss is one to watch out for... even Emmett looks shocked... or impressed...
I'm not sure  0_0

2. Diana Prince: She's... uhm... not a hooker. I swear...
despite what this Fashionista outfit looks like.

3. Frankie: She's shorter than everyone else, which you'd think might give her
a complex, but she's all about being the spunky, tiny ball of energy bouncing
around... she also loves crafting, just like me :)

4. Not really a new character, just another version of me :) You'll find this pic under the
Steffie tab under the "Christie" section!

Neck More or Necklace?

Christie: Omg I crack myself up with that title... but seriously.
A friend of mine makes our size necklaces...
but has no idea what to charge for them.

What do you think a fair value would be for these?
What if they came with earrings?

Christie: Each necklace has a handmade clasp in the back, so you don't have to remove heads XD

Nikki: I should be a model...

Christie: Does that mean you'd move far away to NYC?!

Nikki: You wish. I'm here for-eeeeev-er.

Christie: Damn.

Niki: A valiant try sis, but there's no escaping.

Christie: *sigh* Please tell me what you think on pricing these guys :)

A New Bunny

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to share this bunny I made.
(ps... I'll be talking about the outfit in another post later this week ;) )

He's still pretty big though...
I think maybe I could make him a bit smaller...

but wookit his wittle fuzzy tail!!! *squishsquish*

Despite being a bit bigger than I was imagining,
he's still perfect for snuggles!

I don't know, what do you guys think?
Should I try to make a smaller bun-bun?
(The bun-bun shown on the Majokko Shop is larger...
more 1/3 scale... more of those to come!)

Building a Cast... not the kind for your leg...

Hi all!
Christie here!

There are three new faces that you'll be seeing around here...
well... 2 new ones and one that might just be my own
psychotic visions... at least, that's what Nikki says.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn–Part 2
Emmett Doll
Bring your own home here:

Emmett went to college with Nikki. He was always very popular, but never let it go
to his head... unlike his brother (who you'll meet later).
He is a friend of Nikki's, but he doesn't agree with the meaner aspects of her personality.
 Occupation: Landscape Architecture.

Disney Princess Dream Princess™ Rapunzel Doll
Bring your own home here:

Bring your own home here: http://shop.mattel.com/product/index.jsp?productId=16131116

Christie's friend.
They've known each other since High School.
Currently employed at a daycare.

The human incarnation of Christie's kitty, Macaron.
Occupation: Sleeping, eating, finding sunny spots to stretch out in
She's been Christie's roommate since college (hehe)

The Storm Arrives... no, not another post about rain, I swear

Christie: It was a dark day out...
the darkest of all days.
The neighborhood took on a creepy atmosphere,
like something out of Grimm's Fairytales.

Christie: Today, the BIG BAD WOLF arrived!!! EEEEEE!
Nikki: Oh please, you're such a dork.

Nikki: Hi all! I'm Nikki. I blog about fashion and life and style,
just like my sister, Christie, but I do it better.
I'll be a guest on her blog from time to time.
Christie: LIKE HELL!
Nikki: HAH, like you can stop me.
Christie: You're right, *sniffle*

Nikki: I mean, I'm older than Christie, I have more life experience...
and I know actual guys, a feat Christie has yet to accomplish (aka, even talking to one).
Instead she just spends all her time with that damned cat, Macaron.
Seriously, who names their cat after something they want to eat?
That just seems sick to me.
Like saying, "I acknowledge you are edible, cat."
Weird, but then, that's Christie for ya.

Nikki: I know Christie's already been prepping you for what an awful person I am.
I make no apologies for who I am.
I make no apologies for tormenting my sister.
(OH please, like you don't torment YOUR sister... if you have one)
I make no apologies in general, usually.
It's not my job to make you feel like a super special sunshine rainbow.
Deal with it.

Oh, and Hi, nice to meet'cha!

Since the photos above, Nikki has been upgraded to a more poseable body,
so she can give you her 'tude in a more expressive manner.

Nikki: That's right, I'm articulated... although my butt is HUGE now.
Gotta kiss those gold pants goodbye ;_;
Christie: Your butt isn't the only thing that's huge... your ego eclipses it.
Nikki: Whatev's, Tater Tot... you're just jealous that I make this look sooooo good.
Christie: Oh boy, save me... please? Anyone??
